drunken: frozen

Excerpt from “Drunken: What the Children Saw”

Adults tell stories of the disconnection they felt as children, the comedic/tragic shifts seen in drunken behaviour and their childhood impulses to freeze, flee or fight.

Home movies visualize the presence of children and their reactions to the altered states of adults. Slapstick and classic film drunkards extend conceptions of drunkenness across the generations; connecting comedy and violence in pratfalls.

Home movies emphasize the importance of images remembered over time, and link personal histories with cultural history.
